About Naomi Watts (Princess Diana)

Naomi Watts, with her soft facial features that largely resemble the ones of Diana, gets to play the main role in the Diana movie. Born in England in 1968, she later on moved to Sydney, Australia together with her mother, stepfather, and brother. Her father, Peter Watts, was a road manager and sound technician for the Pink Floyd – he passed away when the actress was only seven years old.
While living in Australia, her mother had her sign up for acting classes, where Watts met and later on became friends with Nicole Kidman, with whom she appeared in the drama movie Flirting in 1991.
Her first appearance on screen was in the Australian movie For Love Alone in 1986; later on, she’s starred in different Australian TV shows. After moving to the USA in the 90’s, she’s appeared in a lot of different movies though didn’t find much success in any of the roles she played – in fact, Watts has often been quite vocal about the struggles of her early career.
Success finally came when she was given the main role in Mulholland Drive in 2001 when David Lynch cast her without even looking at her previous work – according to him, he simply knew she was very talented!
Ever since then, Watts has been enjoying a much more fruitful career. In 2003 and 2012 respectively, she’s received nominations for the Academy Awards and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress as well as a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
Apart from that, Watts became a goodwill ambassador for the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS in 2006 and has been helping in raising awareness ever since. She has two children with a partner she’d split up with.
